New Shelter Director Announced

The Helping Strays of Monroe County’s Board of Directors is excited to introduce our new Executive Director, Scott Spinner. His effective date is Monday, April 4th. Scott comes to us with a strong background in nonprofit leadership and fundraising.

Before joining Helping Strays, Scott served as the Executive Director with the Gateway YMCA where he oversaw the O’Fallon IL YMCA from 2020-2021. He also oversaw the Monroe County and Randolph County YMCAs from 2017-2020. While at the YMCA, he served as a Regional Leader for Health and Wellness throughout the 24 YMCAs in the Gateway Region and experienced much success in both annual and capital campaigns.

Prior to the YMCA positions, Scott played a key role in standing up Lindenwood’s Belleville IL campus as the Director of Athletics and Head Men’s Basketball Coach from 2009-2017. During his time at Lindenwood, the university gained membership into the NAIA and grew from one sport to offering over 24 sports programs. Spinner also remains Lindenwood’s winningest Basketball Coach of all-time at both campuses.

Scott and his wife Crystal live in Smithton IL with their three daughters, Madison 12, Allison 9, and Naomi 6. Scott and his family love to play sports, RV travel, and going on long walks with their Golden Retrievers, Pippen and Harper.

Please join us in welcoming Scott and his family to Helping Strays of Monroe County.
